This book was atrocious, my students begged me to get the second book after we had read the first book over the Summer last year. And this book was absolutely painful to get through, I had to stop almost every other sentence to explain the confusing jargon that most children wouldn't be privy to unless an adult was reading along with them, and had to edit on the fly SEVERAL parts of the books far too often for my liking. It was dull, and a struggle to keep myself and my students engaged. This book does not fit the Dahl standard at all.

I read this follow up to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a kid, and I remember liking it. I bought this to read to my kids some 30 years later after we read the first book together...not as good as I remembered. Kind of a strange story and definitely not as good as Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

The kindle version was fine, but I think it might be best for most readers to stop at the first book.
This book isn’t my favorite- but we live roald Dahl and vow to read every book. The portrayal of the American president and his nanny are priceless!
This book was not better than the first, but doesn't mean it was bad. The reason why was because is was very fake. What in the world are Knids!? How can the Glass Elavator go into space!? Tho it was fake, it was good imagination. Yeah, crazy is Roald Dahl's style. It was still a great book tho. Recommended for kids 7-12
Not only is Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator a wonderful, fun, quirky book - Douglass Hodge is the best narrator I think I have ever heard. His energy, the different character's voices, and his fantastically enthusiastic delivery set him a notch above other readers, even the very great ones.

We own both this and his reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and my girls (and I) have listened to both of them several times. I would recommend them to anyone, and doubly so to fans of Charlie or of Roald Dahl.
This book is WEIRD and not in the charming way that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is. I had forgotten, but read this with my 6 yr old. Skip this one and go right to The BFG which is a treat in every way.

I'm sure u have read Charlie and the chocolate factory if u r reading this review. This is just another funny,classic and awesome book for ages 7-100. This guy just does not know how to make a bad book. Even people who r getting a little older (no offence) think this book is charming. Now if u have read Charlie and the chocolate factory, u know that he is GREAT writer.

Charlie and his family have gone into space!!! This is a bad thing but the older people STILL won't get out of their bed. Then Aliens come and try to take down Charlie and the crew. Can they survive the aliens? Will people think that THEY r the aliens? Find out in this master piece!!!!!!!!

My 9 year old loved this book and is asking for more books from this Author. She read this in school with her class and since next year we are homeschooling maybe these other books would be great for book reports? Anyway I think these are great for kids around 9 and up.
This book is about what happened after Charlie won the factory. IF you want to know what all it is about I just can't spoil it for you but I will tell you it has something to do with space..
